The role of alumni is very large in supporting the progress of faculties and universities. As happened at the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science (FPP) of Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), the recognition of its reputation at the national and international levels cannot be separated from the contributions of alumni, both directly and indirectly.

Acting (Plt) Deputy Chancellor III for Communication and Business Undip, Dwi Cahyo Utomo SE MA Ph.D., said this while giving a speech representing the Chancellor in the FPP Undip Alumni Network Talk Show, with the title “Bakti Alumni Synergizing Building the Nation”, which was held on Saturday (2/10/2021).

It is said, the role of FPP Undip alumni who are members of the Undip Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Alumni Association (IKAFATERTAN) is worth noting. ”The alumni should also be proud because FPP’s achievements are very good. Likewise with the extraordinary development. How about before with limitations, moving to crawl from zero, and now it’s extraordinary,” said Dwi Cahyo Utomo.

According to him, the current position of the Undip FPP is not only at the national level but also at the international level. For this reason, Dwi invites alumni who are members of IKAFATERTAN to fight with new enthusiasm for the glory of Undip.

“The latest results achieved, the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022 ranking, put Undip in first place in Indonesia. This means that Undip graduates are quickly absorbed by the job market, and work in credible institutions,” added Dwi.

This is an acknowledgment that the progress of alumni in public, private and entrepreneurial institutions are in an important position. For that, Undip needs a new spirit that can be developed, including strengthening the synergy between alumni and universities in various programs.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FPP Undip, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Waluyo Hadi Eko Prasetiyono, MS MAgr IPU, at the online and offline event said that FPP continues to improve to strengthen its position. ”This year, we have entered the world competition. FPP Undip’s farm at the national level is ranked 2. In Asia, we are ranked 66 and for International, ranked 326, which is in the top 500,” said the man who is familiarly called Bambang W.H.E.P.

Various improvements continue to be made. “Next year, we will build a four-story building. It should also be noted that all Study Programs at FPP have been accredited A Superior,” he added.

Currently, there are two departments in FPP, namely the Department of Animal Science which has a Bachelor of Animal Science, Master of Animal Science, and Doctor of Animal Science Study Programs; and the Department of Agriculture with S1 Agribusiness, S2 Agribusiness, S1 Food Technology, and S1 Agro Technology study programs. ”The seven study programs at FPP are all A-accredited.”

What is encouraging, in addition to accreditation, the interest of new students to enter Undip FPP also continues to increase. “From 2019 to 2021 this has doubled, in 2019 the interest was at 400, now it’s 825,” he said.

As Dean, Bambang W.H.E.P. invites alumni to participate directly in encouraging the progress of FPP. There are many patterns of collaboration that can be done with alumni. Including the strength of alumni in building networks. He also hopes that alumni organizations can be structurally developed from DPP, DPD to DPC in regencies/cities in Indonesia.

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture is one of the leading faculties in Undip. Its vision is to become a leading international faculty in the field of science and technology, animal husbandry, and tropical agriculture by 2030, while its mission is to develop an excellent educational program in the field of tropical animal husbandry to produce competitive graduates.

To achieve this, apart from updating the curriculum and teaching, research activities and adequate laboratory support are needed. One of the leading laboratories and research sites is the modern FPP chicken coop which can accommodate 33 thousand chickens, fruit gardens, and an entrepreneurship laboratory. There is also a laboratory for beef cattle and a laboratory for dairy cattle, one of which is the crossbreeding of local and foreign cattle.
