The discussion about the corona has not reached a breaking point. Corona is still a topic of discussion for the majority of people, especially academics. Given this pandemic has an impact on all lines of life. One of the main impacts is in the agricultural sector where the distribution process is disrupted. Farmers lose money, consumers also find it difficult to find food. Even this theme did not escape the discussions of agribusiness experts who are members of the Indonesian Agricultural Economics Association (Perhepi) Semarang Regional Commissariat.
Perhepi in collaboration with the Master of Agribusiness Program, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Science, Universitas Diponegoro held a Webinar themed “Agribusiness Product Supply Chain Implementation Strategy Towards Efficient Marketing in a Pandemic Period”. This webinar presents speakers Prof. Nunung Nuryantono from IPB, Suryo Banendro, M.P as the Head of the Central Java Agriculture and Plantation Service, and Prof. Siswanto Imam Santoso from Undip.
During the 3 hours of implementation, three speakers stated that in the current condition, the agricultural sector is a safeguard for basic human needs. Even so, the challenges are very complex, especially when there are restrictions on mobility due to the corona virus. Everyone is not free to move in and out of an area because of the pandemic. Not only human mobility, but also impact on the food supply chain. So far, agricultural conditions in Indonesia have been concentrated in rural areas. Most of the farmers live in rural areas, whereas consumers are concentrated in urban areas. Added to this is the fact that the main food producers are still concentrated on the island of Java, even though consumers are spread from Sumatra to Papua. This problem is a common concern, so that in the future there needs to be a mapping of food conditions.
Not only doing webinars, on this occasion the inauguration of the PERHEPI Komda Semarang administrator was also held. On this occasion, the Head of PERHEPI Komda Semarang for the 2020-2023 period, Dr. Edy Prasetyo stated that agricultural problems are increasingly complex, especially during current conditions. Therefore PERHEPI is present in the community to contribute ideas and energy so that farmers will be more successful. It was noted that the inauguration was attended by 400 participants consisting of practitioners, lecturers, government employees, to students throughout I
